hyperconnected omniscience

I just read a post praising cell phones and connectivity. Ok - great things I rely on but... are we truly better off? I was on a shuttle bus from the airport to a resort with 4 others who all worked for the same company. The whole ride, they were emailing, meanwhile, I was observing the scenery. I had never been to Arizona and never seen landscape like that. I didn't really like it but still - it was interesting and new. As for missing the internet or email? It was the furthest thing from my mind. I used to have a RIM pager. I don't now. I don't miss it. Along these lines - omniscience. On Yahoo yesterday, the top story was always the same story presented in 50 different ways and always up to the minute. Too much information and nothing that lead to my personal growth or development or knowledge.

who is your mentor

Is it possible to have a mentor that doesn't know they are your mentor? It leaves you a bit short changed I think. I mean there is suposed to be a relationship there right? So then, how do you go about acquiring a mentor? Going with the quote Imitation is the sincerest flattery is that a good place to start?
