control your destiny

Control your Destiny or someone else will. What an awesome title for a book - great book too. So here I sit - looking at my destiny wondering if I am controlling it very well. You see there are two things I have to balance. Family and Career. As an independant person, I think my career would be very different. I would have accomplished far more at this point. Funny thing is, having a family adds perspective. Is a phenomenal career really all that wonderful? If you don't have any other significant attachmants in your life then I am sure you would say that your career is who you are. Or at least - I used to. Now, I say my family is who I am. I am sure that things will come full circle and at some point in my life, my career will become a priority again but for now, I will try to make my family my focus.

All Things Internet

Way back in 94, I was studying for an exam for Physical Chemistry. I was too cheap to buy the text and I took very poor notes in class so I was faced with the problem of having very little to study. What to do... hey, how about the Internet? Well, somehow I found the University of Vermont who has a plethora of materials online, including exactly what I needed. This was 1994! I was sold. This one thing sealed my passion for the internet.

Today, many years later, my passion has not wained. The internet has governed most aspects of my life. I would say easily 75% of my knowledge was sourced from the internet. Even if the information was in print - it was the internet that lead me to the print.

So, I have spent 11 years using the internet for my purposes and what have I contributed? Not enough sadly to say. Hopefully that can change.
